I began learning piano at age 4. My parents couldn't drag me away from it at bedtime. My father is well known in Scottish music and our house was always full of entertainers passing through or playing local theatres.

My main influences range from Mozart, Dvorak, and Greig in the classical world to Elton John, John Denver, Mary Black and Neil Diamond in the popular world.

But really, I listen to all types of music with an open mind and use each opportunity as a chance to learn something about the craft.

"I write songs of all different types; ballads, love songs, country, jazz, blues and rock.

I have worksheets everywhere. Lyrics in one place, melody lines in another. I call it my "work in progress". Magically, they come together in the creation of songs.

Mostly I get my inspiration from events around me. The art of songwriting is one where there is always more to learn and I am really enjoying the journey.

I love creating songs that people get some personal insight from. In my other work as a life coach, I help people see how they can view life differently and therefore make new decisions as a result. I love trying to make that possible through my songs.

When not performing or travelling the world, my wife Rosie and I can be found at our Retreat Centre in the beautiful Alpujarran mountains of Southern Spain.

I have my own recording studio and it's the perfect place for me to create my music.
